The WhatsApp messaging application is one of the most used in the world and currently has more than 5,000 million users worldwide.
However, something that many of its users are unaware of is that it constantly updates the system, with the aim of improving its functions and giving its users more benefits.
One of these benefits is the ‘secret camera’ or ‘hidden camera’, which allows the user to quickly post a WhatsApp status or send a photo or video to another contact without having to go the slow route of logging into the application, press the ‘states’ option, press the camera option and finally take the photo.
It is worth clarifying that the hidden camera option is only available for users who have cell phones with the Android operating system, which means that it does not work for phones like iPhones; In addition, it does not require downloading any external software or program.
To activate the option it is necessary to follow these steps :
1. Enter the Google Play Store and verify that WhatsApp has no pending updates.
2. Go to the main page of the phone and press for a few seconds an empty space on it where the available pages of the device will appear and, at the bottom, different options will be shown.
3. Within those options you must choose the one that says Widgets, which are all the ones available on the phone.
4. Among the Widgets, you must choose the camera icon with the WhatsApp logo.
5. Finally, Android will ask you if you want to activate the ‘hidden camera’ of the application and press the ‘add’ button.
Batteries! This is the function that would no longer be free on WhatsApp
The platform developed a new feature that endangers one of the most used features by its millions of users.
This is the backup system in Google Drive, which allows, among other help, to save information from the chats in case you change your cell phone.
As reported by WABetaInfo, a few lines of code were discovered in the messenger’s database that for the first time highlights “changes in Google Drive backups.”
Therefore, it is not ruled out that WhatsApp will no longer be free in terms of copies of chats and storage that users save every day or month. Despite the new modifications, the duplication limit has not yet been determined. However, people who progressively use the application should be more careful and select the most important thing to be stored, that is, perform data cleaning.
Based on the chain of codes, it is argued that Google will continue to offer a free quota to store backups in the green application of the phone, but it will be considered as a plan with a limit. So that users, when exceeded, will have to pay to extend the service that does not yet have a rate.
Similarly, another consideration has to do with changing some of the One plans (extended cloud subscription service) so that unlimited access to WhatsApp backups can be obtained, only for premium users. In this way, Android would lose its gratuity and will have to consider the alternatives proposed by the application or, failing that, migrate to other services.
It should be noted that the platform also decided to announce another goal in terms of security that it is working on.
The messaging application will allow its users to establish a password to protect the information of chats and multimedia files that have been saved in its cloud service, thus avoiding unauthorized access to that data.
As reported by the WABetaInfo platform on its Twitter account a month ago, encryption would be applied to backups made by users in the cloud. To do this, they should establish a password, which will also be requested when they want to restore the information from the copy.
WABetaInfo pointed out that the password that is set is private and is not sent to WhatsApp. That is, only the user will know it.
