We have witnessed big and important changes in Instagram during the last months. Just a few hours ago, for example, we shared the announcement of the imminent death of IGTV.
This change, already expected by many, constitutes to a large extent the confirmation of this permanent search for innovation by those responsible for the popular app.
In this last change, we see how the platform is withdrawing to strengthen its content offer in a global scenario where TikTok has already begun to integrate videos with up to 10 minutes in length.
It is here, in this context that many wonders: When will they finally launch the Instagram app for iPad?
And well, in that aspect there is not so good news.
Why Instagram does not have an app for iPadOS
Practically since Apple decided to use iPadOS as the base operating system for its line of iPad tablets, users who came from iOS ran into a perhaps unexpected surprise: there is no Instagram app for these devices.
For years there has been concern about the latest arrival of this special version of the application and on more than one occasion in the past, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, had been diplomatic when questioned about the matter.
The executive at the time almost always approached the matter with cordial responses, stating that an Instagram app for the iPad would be a nice thing to do, although unfortunately, the company had other projects in the works.
However, Mosseri recently tweeted a response to Marques Brownlee in which the head of Instagram outright revealed the real reason this app doesn’t exist.
The year is 2022 and there’s still no proper Instagram app for iPad

“Yes, they ask us a lot for that. But it’s still not a large enough group of people to make it a priority. Hoping to get to it at some point, but right now we’re more concerned with other things.”
In other words, the number of users of Apple tablets would not really be large enough to justify the development of a special app for iPadOS.
In addition, in the thread of the conversation, the subject also points out that developing an Instagram application for iPad would increase its costs.
Basically, all the devices compatible with the application would add an additional overload to their processes to a work team that would be much smaller than everyone thinks.
