Over the past week, some interesting rumours have surfaced regarding the future of the Apple family of products.
Most of the reports revolved around the imminent arrival of the M2 processor, but somewhere in the middle of it all there was also a report that seemed out of all proportion and that was quickly buried by the order of world events.
At some point during the week, there was talk of the possibility that Apple could work on the development of a hybrid laptop, which is nothing more than a touch screen laptop, which in the most complex of cases can bend or detach from the physical keyboard to function as a tablet.
This type of device has been circulating on the market for years. But for a change, Apple has yet to venture into that arena.
Hybrid MacBook with iPad display could be close
The first reports of a 20-inch Apple laptop with these qualities at the time were dismissed as vague and frankly impractical.
However, things escalated to a new level of seriousness with Mark Gurman of Bloomberg and the most recent edition of his PowerOn newsletter, since there the subject not only took up the subject but virtually endorsed it.
Gurman’s track record when it comes to Apple-related rumours has been fairly reliable so far. So it is inevitable to take these rumours more seriously.
Since, as the specialist reveals, his contacts have told him that Apple has indeed been exploring the possibility of creating a hybrid device of this type.
Even, he reveals, this project would have been active within Apple for some years, until now it became more public when its technology exploration was leaked to achieve a 20-inch touch screen with the technical requirements they want.
Although it should be noted that Gurman himself doubts that Apple will ever end up launching this hybrid MacBook on the market. Since at the moment the project would be in a relatively preliminary stage.
For years, Apple has been clear in its refusal to release this class of touchscreen laptops. The most he came to was to integrate the Touch Bar in some models of his MacBook.
So it is uncertain what will happen with this alleged ongoing project.
