The prominence that podcasts have had in recent times is no secret to anyone. This type of content is perhaps one of the most consumed on streaming platforms, which is why YouTube has decided to incorporate it into its special monetization services for content creators.
Platforms like Spotify and Apple Music are very successful in the podcast market, which is why YouTube understood the need to enter this business, but it will do it in its own way, according to an article published by Bloomberg.
The aforementioned medium explains that YouTube seeks to attract podcast creators to its platform so that they become part of its community, with the aim of creating video versions of different programs.
YouTube funding for podcast creators
The social network seeks to achieve the goal by offering financing of USD $50,000 for individual podcasts and USD $200,000 to USD 300,000 to finance podcast networks.
This, of course, is part of the strategy implemented by YouTube to compete directly with other platforms, mainly Apple Music and Spotify.
It is important to note that YouTube has already made related decisions, as it was recently learned that the platform has stopped charging Canadian users to listen to a program in the background, something that was only available to premium users.
