It was recently learned that the social network Twitter launched a version of its website with access to the Dark Web browser. This tool is called Tor Onion and allows users to access the platform in countries where it has been blocked.
Tor Onion is a tool that aims to protect users’ privacy and fight against censorship in their respective regions. Other social networks like Facebook also have a version accessible from the Dark Web browser.
The tool is an option to safeguard connections and traffic routes. In addition, on March 8, Twitter joined other platforms that offer this alternative, as announced by engineer Alec Muffett in a tweet.
What is Dark Web Tor Onion?
This is an option to protect connections and traffic paths. As of this Tuesday, Twitter joins the platforms that offer this alternative, according to engineer Alec Muffett, on Twitter. Muffett explained that with Tor Onion “greater privacy, integrity and reliability” is obtained for users to stay in communication with each other.
This is possibly the most important and long-awaited tweet that I’ve ever composed.
On behalf of @Twitter, I am delighted to announce their new @TorProject onion service, at:https://t.co/Un8u0AEXeE pic.twitter.com/AgEV4ZZt3k

This new measure comes a few days after the Russian communications regulatory agency Roskomnadzor blocked access to platforms such as Facebook and Twitter in Russia.
Now users who are in that country will be able to get around the block in order to continue using Twitter and stay connected. Other platforms are expected to adopt this service later.
