iPhone 14 would kill the mini line to focus on four different models

The iPhone 14 mini would not exist. Apple would have adapted its strategy to eliminate this line of compact phones.

When Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini, we were all taken by surprise by the decision of the Cupertino boys to develop a terminal so small that it clearly seemed designed for children.

The reality is that the terminals of this company are increasingly expensive and this compact model had indirectly become an attractive product for the tightest budgets.

In the hands of an adult, though, the iPhone mini always looked like some kind of overpriced toy that was just as fragile as higher-priced models.

With the passing of each generation, an inescapable fact was that the sales of this model were never devastating.

Not even with that extra boost, and now everything points to Apple having finally decided to kill it.

The iPhone 14 would completely eliminate the mini line

From 9to5mac comes a sensible report, based on information provided by its informants, where they assure that the iPhone 14 would be launched in four different models this year 2022.

The little big detail is that none of those four variants would actually be a mini model. Rather, that line would be officially removed in this generation.

“According to our sources, the new iPhone 14 (codenamed D27 and D28) will be available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch versions, and the current 5.4-inch iPhone mini form factor will be discontinued.”

As the site states, these entry phones would have the same screen resolution as the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

However, the screen of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max (codenamed D73 and D74) would be larger. All in order to harmonize a new front design that will adapt the shape of the notch.

Unfortunately, this report strengthens the rumour from other sources, where it is ensured that there will be models of the iPhone 14 that will continue to run under the A15 processor.

In this case, it is stated that two variants, the most basic, would repeat the chipset of the current generation. While the D73 and D74 models would use a new processor not yet announced.

Clearly, the obvious assumption is that we would be talking about the Apple A16. But it is necessary to take into account that there are in fact two versions of the A15: the one we all know and a new one with an additional GPU core and 6 GB of RAM.

This chipset is currently exclusive to the iPhone 13 Pro. The obvious logic would be that this processor is now part of the most basic models of the iPhone 14. But everything is uncertain.

What do you think?
