Netflix releases new You season 4 motion poster featuring Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg, depicting the character’s arrival in London. You premiered in September 2018 on Lifetime before making waves around the world when the first season of the series was made available to stream on Netflix in December. After the huge success of the first season, Netflix acquired the show and ordered its second season.

The poster gives fans a new look at Joe in his teacher’s outfit for a journey through London in You season 4. The post was captioned, “ London calls with some news. How Season 4 of YOU Can Keep the Show Fresh

You season 3 ended with a twist, with Joe finally getting the better of his wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), killing her and escaping their burning house. To start over, Joe cut off two of his toes and left them behind with Love’s body to be found later by the police and have Joe presumed dead. Despite the bleak ending to You Season 3, featuring the death of fan favorite Love, the serial killer actually made a very selfless decision in choosing to leave his son Henry in the care of a neighborhood couple, opting to let the boy grow up in a normal and loving home.

Joe has abandoned not only his family and Mother Linda’s home, but the United States as well, moving to Paris in search of his latest sweetheart, Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). Fans can expect You Season 4 to be largely focused on Joe’s pursuit of Marienne, as any further fixation on a new woman would hurt the show and Joe’s development as a character. The Events of You Season 3 prepared Joe to embark on this mission with a focused mind and a fresh perspective on his ways. The idea of leaving his son Henry with another family was for Joe to realize he wasn’t a healthy presence for the boy, positioning the character to re-evaluate his life as a whole.

The information available about You Season 4 suggests that Joe’s days of unrequited love are behind him, with the character adopting a new identity. Joe now goes by Professor Jonathan Moore, lives in London and is more academically focused than acting on his murderous impulses, which can only last so long.
