Stranger Things’ final season would be condensed, but it would feature a Return of the King-style epilogue

Netflix has already presented the end of the fourth season of Stranger Things, so naturally after breaking down what happened in the most recent episodes of the program, now the focus of the press and the fans is on Stranger Things 5, the anticipated last season of the story. of Eleven and company. According to Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, work on the scripts for the fifth and final season of their popular series will begin this August.“We’re going to take a little vacation in July and then we’ll be back. I know the writer’s room is going to start in that first week of August, ” Ross Duffer told Collider.

However, although the scripts will only begin to take shape from that date, Matt and Ross Duffer have made it clear that they are already certain about the direction that Stranger Things 5 will take and, in addition to promising that the next installment in the series will delve more into the mythology The Upside Down, indicated that it would probably contemplate a time jump and have shorter episodes than Stranger Things 4. According to the Duffer Brothers, as the next season of Stranger Things will be able to jump right into the action, there will not be a whole preamble as happened with the most recent cycle and therefore they hope that its duration will be shorter.

“The only reason we don’t expect (season 5) to be that long is that, if you watch it, it’s almost two hours before our kids get drawn into the supernatural mystery, ” Matt Duffer told the Happy Podcast. , Sad, Confused. “You get to know them, you get to see them in their lives, what they’re struggling with, adjusting to high school, etc. Steve is trying to find a date, all that. None of that is going to be happening in the first two episodes of (Season 5).”

“For the first time we didn’t shut things down at the end of (Season) 4, so it will move. I don’t know if it will go 100 miles per hour at the start of (Season) 5, but it will move pretty fast, ” he added. “The characters will already be in action. They’ll already have a goal and a drive, and I think that’s going to take them at least a couple of hours and make this season feel different.” While in the fourth season stories were developed in Russia, California, and Hawkins, in the last cycle of Stranger Things everything will take place in the central city of Indiana. “We want to go back to a lot of the things that we did in Season 1,” added Matt Duffer. “A lot of the original line-ups and couples that we had in Season 1, there’s something good about coming full circle.”

But do not expect that with these plans the end of  Stranger Things 5 will be small because the creators of the series indicated that it will be something in the style of The Return of the King, the epic last film of the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson that in its standard version it lasts 201 minutes. “(The ending) is going to be like Return of the King with eight endings,” Matt Duffer said.

For now, there is no official release date for Stranger Things 5, but David Harbor estimated that it could arrive in 2024.
