The war between Russia and Ukraine continues to cause repercussions in the world of football. Now, the Premier League officially announced that it has broken the broadcasting contract with the Russian company Rambler Media, the same one that will take effect from this weekend.
Likewise, the organizing body of the English tournament will donate 1.2 million euros after the conclusion of the agreement to help citizens affected by the war in Ukraine.
The decision was taken due to criticism by the English Parliament of the organizers of the competition demanding that the television agreements for football be broken, a fact that was strengthened after Sberbank, a Russian conglomerate that runs Rambler Media, entered the list. of entities sanctioned by the United Kingdom Treasury after the invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24 of this year.
The next step, according to The Telegraph, is to suspend broadcasts of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, respectively.
On the other hand, the last broadcast of the Premier League carried out by Okko Sport, a platform that owns the rights in Russia, did not show the details of support for Ukraine during the English league matches played last weekend; although it did issue the graphic against the war conflict, an action that caused various criticisms on social networks.
China to stop broadcasting Premier League
A few days ago, entities from China, a political partner of Vladimir Putin, announced that they would stop broadcasting the Premier League matches as a measure of support for Russia, and to reject the English tournament’s signs of support for Ukraine.
