Graham Potter has emphasized that he is aware of the severity of his position as the manager of Chelsea and that he would “understand” being fired if the team’s dismal run of form continues.

The current position of Chelsea is eighth.
Paid out more than £300 million in January.

WHAT CAME TO PASS? In Potter’s first full transfer window, he was given a war chest of more over £300 million ($362 million), which was 37% of the entire expenditure by the league. Nevertheless, it is quite unlikely that this massive injection of cash would offer any kind of instant improvement in form.

The Englishman has made it clear that he is aware that he will not be in his current position for much longer, despite the fact that Chelsea is now in ninth place and has only won once in all competitions since the turn of the year.

WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY: “My connection with [the proprietors] has been stable throughout our time together. We are on the same page with where we both stand and how we see the team. We are putting in a lot of solid effort to keep getting better “Potter said the press before Saturday’s game between the Blues and West Ham.

“The anticipation has always been focused on the same thing: a squad that emerges victorious in the end. We are aware that there are chances to make changes to the team whenever the window of opportunity presents itself. I’m not dumb. If the club isn’t getting the results it should be getting, then I completely understand; if it’s because of me, then that’s my responsibility.”

THE BIG PICTURE As a result of Chelsea’s spectacular haul of eight players brought in during the month of January, six of whom are immediately available for selection, Potter is now tasked with the responsibility of attempting to integrate one of the most bloated teams in the league.

This list is not likely to get any shorter either, as Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day did not go through, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to turn down an offer from Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC in order to compete for his starting position.
