COVID-19: Mumbai Reports 10,860 New Cases; Delhi Announces Weekend Curfew

India continues to see an increase in COVID-19 infections, with the government reporting 37,379 new cases and 124 fatalities on Tuesday, 4 January.

So far, 1,892 instances of the coronavirus variant Omicron have been found throughout India’s 23 states and union territories. While Maharashtra leads the way with 568 Omicron instances to far, Delhi follows closely behind with 382 cases.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has tested positive for the coronavirus and has described his symptoms as light.

India began vaccines for youngsters aged 15-18 on Monday and has already vaccinated over 40 lakh children.

The Delhi state administration announced on Tuesday the imposition of a weekend curfew.

On a Mumbai-Goa cruise ship carrying more than 2,000 passengers, up to 66 persons tested positive for COVID-19.

On Monday, Goa, which became a popular tourist destination in December, recorded a positive rating of more than 10.7%.

Numerous states have announced COVID restrictions in response to the increase in cas
