Mexico adds 5 million 649 thousand 977 cases and 322 thousand 735 total deaths from covid-19 , of which 2 thousand 936 cases and 101 deaths were in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The technical statement also accounts for:

680 thousand 686 suspected cases.
9 million 188 thousand 727 negative cases.
11 thousand 118 estimated active cases.

With these data, Mexico is the twentieth country in the world in number of confirmed infections and is the fifth with the most deaths from this cause, behind the United States, Brazil, India and Russia, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.

The health authorities recognize that, based on the death certificates, the country may be close to 460,000 deaths and they estimate that Mexico actually accumulates 5,928,149 infections.

Of the confirmed infections, there are 11,118 active cases, which have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 0.2 percent of the total.

The 10 states that accumulate the majority of coronavirus cases in the country are Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Tabasco, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Puebla and Sonora, which together make up 64 per percent of all accumulated cases in the country.

The distribution by sex in confirmed cases shows a predominance in women (52 percent). The median age overall is 38 years.

Vaccination plan in Mexico

The authorities also indicated that within the vaccination program more than 190.1 million doses have been administered, adding 392 thousand 537 during the last day.

The Government of Mexico affirms that it is the tenth country that has applied the most doses in absolute numbers.

Of the 126 million inhabitants, 85.56 million Mexicans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with which 90 percent of the population aged 18 and over has received at least one application.
