Optimus, the humanoid robot Tesla is working on, could arrive in September with a “functional” prototype, as Elon Musk himself has highlighted through a post on his Twitter profile. The tycoon has also confirmed the postponement of the second edition of IA Day to be able to show – if all goes well – the one also known as Tesla Bot.
The second edition of Tesla’s annual conference aimed at showing what’s new in the field of artificial intelligence and software was scheduled for August 19, 2022, just one year after the first, which was held on August 20, 2021. The new date announced by Elon Musk, instead, places IA Day on September 30.
These 42 days of difference between the original date and the one announced by Elon Musk will allow us to see Optimus for the first time in operation because for the moment, we have only seen renders and promotional images, as well as non-functional robot models. However, delays in the development of the robot are not ruled out. Musk makes it clear that “it’s likely” we’ll see a prototype Optimus “working by then.” Its launch, yes, will not be until the end of 2023.
Tesla’s Humanoid Robot Is Designed To Do What Humans Don’t Want To Do
Optimus, first announced at IA Day 2021, is a humanoid robot designed to make everyday life easier for humans. Elon Musk has stressed on many occasions that the goal of the so-called Tesla Bot is to do “the work that people don’t want to do.” For example, boring or dangerous tasks or those that require extra effort.
