Mumbai: Veteran music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri has passed away. At the age of 69, he breathed his last at around 11 pm at Criti Care Hospital in Mumbai. Let us tell you that the real name of Bappi Lahiri was Alokesh Lahiri who was born on 27 November 1952 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. He started playing the tabla at the age of 3 and then made his debut in the Bengali film Dadu (1972). Bappi Lahiri gave his first music in the Hindi film Nanha Shikari (1973). At the same time, Tahir Hussain’s Hindi film Zakhmi (1975) gave him a different identity. Although he gave many memorable songs to Bollywood in the 80s, while Bappi Lahiri was the only one who introduced Bollywood to ‘Disco Dance’.
