Celebrities and fashionistas from across the world gathered this weekend to celebrate the grand opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, India, with a series of red carpet events. And, of course, when there’s a party, there’s a fashion show.
Consider Priyanka Chopra, who saved her best outfit for last while attending the museum’s official presentation of the exhibition India in Fashion. Chopra put out all the efforts for the event, donning a modern spin on the classic sari.
Amit Aggarwal designed her unique attire, which included a skirt made of a 65-year-old ancient Banarasi brocade with silver threads and gold electroplating on khadi silk. It had a thigh-high slit and a holographic bustier that exposed the abs.
The stunning gown was completed by Priyanka with a hefty diamond necklace, dazzling earrings, and peep-toe stilettos. Her dark hair was worn down in bombshell waves with a side part, and she wore shimmering eyeshadow, pink lips, and rosy cheeks.
Nick Jonas, Chopra’s husband, accompanied her on the red carpet in black slacks and a similar black blazer with brocade design on the sleeves and a crystal brooch affixed to the lapel of his jacket.
Chopra published a slideshow of photographs of herself with her “forever guy” on Instagram, including even more details about her dress. “Thank you for your great collaboration, @stylebyami. I knew I wanted to wear a vintage upcycled style with a modern twist! Thus my attire was a cross between east and west! “Like me,” she wrote in the caption before complimenting designer Aggarwal for designing a gown “with a tale that is so appropriate for an evening celebrating Indian art and fashion.””
