ORLANDO, Florida.- A photo of Tyre, a minor who died after falling several meters from a mechanical game in Florida, without being well secured, has gone viral.
It’s unclear if the harness was fully closed before the ride went up, or if the tour operator never checked to make sure it was fastened properly.
An investigation is currently underway in the park. At a news conference Friday, Orange County Sheriff John Mina said, “It appears to be a terrible tragedy. ” We’ll see in the future how that turns out.’
Tire was not properly secured
Tire and the rest of the group had been told moments before that there were no seatbelts on the trip. The only thing that kept them from falling out of their seats were the drop-down plastic harnesses that are supposed to snap into place between passengers’ legs.
Through a statement, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the case at the “Orlando Free Fall” attraction in the aforementioned park after reporting the accident to the emergency number.
Although the investigation into the death is in its early stages , witnesses at the scene reported that someone had fallen from the stake, the sheriff’s office said.
According to NBC News, the teenager was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he died from the impact, without revealing his identity.
According to the park’s official website, the attraction involved in the accident, the Orlando Free Fall, is a 430-foot design drop tower with the capacity to carry up to 30 passengers.
