US President Joe Biden calls Russia’s comments falsely that Ukraine and the US have biological and chemical weapons. Without proof, Biden assures that these accusations would show that Russia is considering using such weapons, which could trigger a “severe” response from NATO’s united front.
After more than four weeks of the invasion, Russian troops resort to massive destruction of residential areas with airstrikes, long-range missiles and artillery. Ukraine acknowledged in a statement that Russian forces are expected to continue attacking critical infrastructure with “high-precision weapons and indiscriminate ammunition.”
For its part, Russia justifies the attacks on the main Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Kharkiv by calling the war a “special military operation” to disarm Ukraine and protect it from the “Nazis”. So too, accused Ukraine and the United States of considering the use of biological and chemical weapons.
Biden denied these accusations and, without evidence, pointed out that it was a sign that President Vladimir Putin was “between a rock and a hard place” and would be considering using such weapons. Although he did not specify the actions he would take, Biden, warned that Russia’s use of chemical and biological weapons would trigger a “severe” response from NATO’s united front.
Biden will travel to Europe this Friday to meet with the leaders of allied countries and discuss tougher sanctions against Russia.
Through a statement, Biden also warned companies of possible cyberattacks from Russia.
