The ministry informed PAP on Monday that the estimated unemployment rate in May was 5.1%, which means that compared to the previous month it fell by 0.1 percentage point, and compared to the end of May 2021 it was lower by 1 point percent
The lowest unemployment was recorded in the Wielkopolskie voivodship (2.8%), and the highest – was in Warmińsko-Mazurskie (7.9%).
“This is a sensational result, after 1990 only in October 2019 the registered unemployment rate was lower and amounted to 5%. We have reasons to be satisfied” – emphasized the minister of the family, Marlena Maląg, quoted in the press release.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy reported that in May there were 852,000 registered employment offices. unemployed. Compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed fell by 26 thousand. people, i.e. by 3.0 percent. In the registers of the unemployed, there were 174.7 thous. (i.e. 17%) fewer people than at the end of May 2021.
Comparing the unemployment level in May 2022 to the level at the end of February 2020, i.e. before the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of registered unemployed fell by around 67.9 thousand. persons (by 7.4%), and the registered unemployment rate was 0.4 percentage points lower than at the end of February 2020.
The unemployed most often previously worked in the following sections: wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, including motorcycles, industrial processing, and construction. Mainly unemployed people, salesmen, and cooks came to labor offices.
According to preliminary data from the ministry, in May 2022 employers reported 103.2 thousand jobs to labor offices. vacancies and occupational activation places, i.e. by 2.8 thousand. (2.8%) more than in April 2022 and by 11.6 thous. (10.1%) less than in May 2021.
Most job offers were intended for sellers, warehouse workers, manual packers, construction auxiliary workers, production workers, kitchen assistants, warehouse workers, office workers, and cleaning workers.
The Ministry emphasizes that Poland is a country with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the EU. According to Eurostat data published on June 1, 2022, the unemployment rate in Poland was 3.0 percent. against 6.2 percent in the European Union and 6.8 percent. in the Eurozone.
Thus, Poland took second place, after the Czech Republic (2.4%) and with Germany, in terms of the lowest unemployment rate in the EU. (PAP)
