The goal of Ecolo is to ease the transition into the working world by providing significant financial assistance to young people as part of the organization’s purpose.
During their interrogation by the DH, the two co-presidents of the party, Rajae Maouane and Jean-Marc Nollet, stated a wish to make an unconditional offer of 30,000 euros to Belgians who have attained the age of 25. They state in the daily newspaper that their argument is that “in the present environment of prolonged crises, numerous injustices are faced, notably by young people, who depend considerably more on the social integration income.” “Many injustices are experienced, especially by young people, in the context of the ongoing crisis that we are now in.” “The percentage of unemployed young people is four times higher than the percentage of unemployed older folks. They are in need of global solidarity capital, and we would want to be of aid to them by delivering it to them.
The co-presidents of Ecolo estimate that the decisions made in this capital each year will have an effect on the lives of 125,000 individuals residing in Belgium. In order to fund their proposal, they have proposed to “take 1 percent of the legacy of the richest 1 percent of Belgians.”
