Season 3 of The Boys will adapt Herogasm, the most explicit and controversial arc of the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comics. Fans have already been able to see a preview of the episode, but the teaser has come with a curious and teasing warning.
“This is the only video that would be legally approved to show ahead of time,” can be read on the official Twitter account of the series. In addition, the clip includes a second warning saying swearing and a big dance party are just some of the things you’ll see in this episode. This episode of The Boys is not suitable for all audiences.
“This is Herogasm,” says Deep in the trailer. “Ahead!. You are more than invited to the party”, says Love Sausage. Soldier Boy, Starlight, and Butcher, among other characters, also appear in the preview.
“I read all the comics when they cast me as Hughie and Herogasm were one of those issues where I was like, ‘Okay, we have to do this or some version of this because it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever read,’” Jack Quaid confessed to Entertainment Weekly. “I think we stayed true to the comic. I can’t say much about Herogasm. I think the joy of Herogasm is finding out what exactly that means, seeing it for yourself, seeing it unfold. That goes places where you wouldn’t necessarily expect it to go,” he added.
In the comics, the Herogasm is an annual gathering where the heroes meet on a remote tropical island. There they are part of a whole series of disturbing acts, legal or not, that include sex, drugs, and alcohol. Herogasm is episode 6 of season 3 of The Boys which arrives this Friday, June 24 on Amazon Prime Video.
