Being a child star may seem like a dream come true, but when you’re in an industry that demands too much and is full of bad companies, things can get very shady.
Fame isn’t always that glamorous outside of what we see on social media. This could become a double-edged sword that has cost many their happiness.
Children don’t always have the tools to defend themselves and some child stars who have grown up in the spotlight have fallen into the shadows because of excess, sexualization and the pressure to achieve perfection.
However, just as they got lost and were even on the verge of death, they got back on track and today they shine brighter than ever.
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay became one of the promising stars of the nineties. With her great charisma, she conquered the screen with movies like “Game of Twins” and “Life Size”. As she grew older, she had the opportunity to shine in teen comedies like Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, however, the bad company led her to a life of partying and addictions.
Lohan was even arrested multiple times for driving under the influence of alcohol in 2010 and was also charged with grand theft in 2011. Her appearance began to deteriorate with alleged surgeries and her dysfunctional family played a role in her downfall.
But Lindsay struggled to recover and gradually reappeared on-screen with small projects. Her health gains were remarkable and she was back to being the lovely girl we all loved. Now she is happier than ever, ready for new projects with Netflix and with a wedding at the door.
Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin’s life changed forever when he starred in Home Alone in 1990. The film grossed $476 million worldwide, and the sequel also made $359 million, but Culkin’s life has since been surrounded by controversy.
In addition to an alleged drug habit, which he has denied, in 2004 Culkin was a passenger in a car in which his friend was caught speeding. Police searched the car and found some illegal drugs, which meant Culkin was also arrested.
His life took a 180° turn when he decided to enter rehab. Four years ago, he met Brenda Song with whom he has now formed a lovely family.
The star was recently surprised when she walked on a catwalk for the Gucci brand, making herself look better than ever.
Drew Barrymore
Barrymore always conquered everyone with her talent and charisma. Although it was always said that she would have a promising future, at the age of 11 she began to sneak into the extravagant parties of the celebrities who attended the famous Studio 54, a place of perdition. By the time she turned 13, she was hitting rock bottom or so she once revealed for The Guardian. “When I was 13 years old, that was my lowest point. Knowing that she was truly alone. That feeling was horrible. It was a very rebellious time. I would run away. I was very angry,” she said.
Her parents weren’t the best of influences either, for while her father was a violent alcoholic, her mother and manager never had the instinct to protect her. This led to Drew experimenting with drugs and getting involved with older men.
It wasn’t until she started losing contracts and falling into a depression that she realized she had to come back. In the late 1990s, she re-emerged as “the queen of romantic comedies.” Today, Drew is one of the darlings of the screen, in addition to the fact that she is a businesswoman and an exemplary mother.
Britney Spears
It’s no secret what hell Britney went through after spending 13 years in her father’s custody. In 2008, the singer was caught staring blankly, shedding her blonde hair and attacking a car with an umbrella. That was her breaking point but she always had to deal with the paparazzi and the uncomfortable and aggressive questions from the television presenters who saw her as a perfect doll who without thinking that she was collapsing inside her.
2021 was a turning point in her life since he finally managed to free himself from it and little by little she has taken back the reins of her life.
