With the inclusion of small holes at the top of the front of smartphones and the new selfie camera technology under the screen, the complete disappearance of the notch in modern phones is a fact. As is known, the main mobile manufacturers, such as Samsung and Xiaomi, are looking for an all-screen model, and the notch is an obstacle to this end; however, it is not the only reason for its removal. Which are? Here we tell you.
What is the notch on phones for?
The main objective of the notch is to house the front sensor, reducing the frames as much as possible to offer a design that is as adapted as possible in terms of screen/frames. Android manufacturers are the ones that used this feature the most. However, iPhones were the first to include them.
Also, you should know that the notch is a physical element of the phone that you cannot remove, so there are some manufacturers that hide it with software, but all they do is make the upper part of the screen black, adding a kind of frame on top.
Why will the notch disappear completely?
One of the main reasons that have guided companies to dispense with the notch and look for similar solutions for the front cameras is that it can be a bit inconvenient when viewing multimedia content. This has become a very important need in times where it is very common to watch videos from Facebook or platforms like Netflix on our phones.
For this reason, on most modern Android phones, the notch has been replaced by a hole that houses the selfie camera and under-display camera technology. However, Apple is reluctant to completely eliminate the notch on its phones, although it has been reduced on the iPhone 13.
Another reason for the removal of the notch on mobile phones is resistance to water and dust. With its disappearance, there will be less chance of liquid and dust getting into your phone.
Why don’t Android phones have internal FM radio anymore?
Nowadays it is rare to see an Android phone with FM radio. Although there are entry-level devices that have this feature, high-end mobiles from brands such as Samsung and Apple have chosen to remove it completely. Why this decision of the manufacturers? We tell you in the next note.
In early smartphones, the radio chip was unlocked by default, so users could listen to music and news without spending data on their phones. Currently, this item is unlocked on most smartphones.
