Weather in Colorado: Potentially devastating snowstorm towards the conclusion of Tuesday’s commute; locals advised to shelter in place Wednesday

According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm will bring snow to northeastern Colorado, including the metro region. This could lead to hazardous driving conditions on Tuesday morning.

The meteorological service has issued a widespread winter storm warning beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, with heavy snow forecast overnight. There is a 100% probability of snowfall in Denver tonight, and as much as a foot might fall by Wednesday lunchtime.

The weather agency warned that heavy snowfall on roadways would make travel extremely hazardous. It’s possible that the dangerous circumstances could delay the completion of Tuesday evening’s commute, and they’ll have a major effect on Wednesday morning’s.

Overnight, significant snow will fall in the metro region and other parts of east central, north central, and northeast Colorado, according to the weather service. We have a winter storm warning in effect until Wednesday at 5 p.m. There will be local totals of 12–15 inches east of Interstate 25, especially in the northeastern plains, where gusting winds of up to 35 miles per hour will cause blowing and drifting snow to decrease visibility.

The National Weather Service warned of possible flooding in Denver and other parts of the metro area throughout Friday and Saturday.

The meteorological service predicts that Denver will have 1 inch of snowfall on Tuesday evening, with a 60% chance of precipitation primarily after 5 p.m. There will be a 100% probability of snow tonight in the city, and up to 9 inches might fall. Expect a low of around 25 degrees and gusts of up to 22 miles per hour. It’ll be foggy in some places and clear in others.

Denver should start to see less snow around 11 a.m., and “freezing fog” should start to dissipate between 9 and 10 a.m. Expect highs of around 32 degrees.
