The national government reported today that 86 Argentines were evacuated from Ukraine to different countries, through permanent coordination between the Argentine diplomatic representations and the collaboration of local immigration authorities. 35 foreign relatives of these nationals were also able to leave the country.

With these latest efforts, there are no longer Argentines who were temporarily in Ukraine during the beginning of the Russian invasion., according to the direct contacts with Argentines in conflict zones that are permanently maintained by both the Argentine Embassy accredited to Ukraine and the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that “White Helmets mission has been arranged” that installed a Mobile Consulate made up of consular personnel and specialized volunteers “to assist Latin Americans arriving from Ukraine to the Polish border”.

The intention of this mission of the specialized body is to “facilitate the documentary processing, provide psychological support, and facilitate the logistical means for their passage through the border, providing guidance for their subsequent displacement to the destination where they are going, a task that is carried out coordinated manner through cooperation mechanisms in the expanded consular network that make up the representations of Latin American countries in the region”, reported the Foreign Ministry.

In turn, the Foreign Ministry reiterated to the nationals who are in Ukrainian territory that it is essential to know where they are in order to assist them in the best way.

In recent days, the Argentine government ordered the evacuation of the embassy in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The decision was communicated by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero due to the increase in hostilities on the part of Russia.

Ambassador Elena Mikusinski, her daughter and other employees of the embassy initially tried to head towards the border with Romania, but finally had to change their original plans and leave the country through Moldova, to the southwest.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires established the first contacts so that with joint work, to which other provinces could also join, humanitarian aid can be obtained for Ukraine as a result of the war that has already lasted 10 days with enormous human and material losses.

Fernando Straface, Secretary of International Relations of the Buenos Aires government, held telephone conversations this Friday with Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and with the Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Alberto Fernández government, Gustavo Beliz. As Infobae was able to find out, the result of these talks was “very productive” and “beyond the crack.”

Another province that could join this initiative in San Luis. Senator Adolfo Rodríguez Saá contacted the Ukrainian embassy this week to offer himself as an intermediary in seeking help for the Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina called for a call to enlist in the Ukrainian Army or perform volunteer tasks.

The initiative was made official through social networks by the Embassy of the Eastern European nation, which was “moved and extremely grateful for the support” of the Argentine community.

Despite the fact that the image with which the call was disseminated shows a Ukrainian soldier and the legend “Help defeat Russian aggression! Fight for Ukraine. Enlist for the International Legion!” Embassy sources clarified that it is a call for volunteers who can provide “any kind of help” to the population of the European nation facing the Russian Army troops.
