If Brazil were a serious country, the minister-pastor of Education, Milton Ribeiro, would already be on the street. But surely the new scandal will only be in conversation, as always. And it must be said that Ribeiro always proved to be useless. Nothing more than this. This issue began with a serious accusation that pastors of evangelical churches work with the minister, intermediating transfers of government resources to city halls. But only a few mayors, preferably those who are evangelical friends. Leaked audio revealed how easy public money is in the hands of the usual thieves. All are equal. This complaint weighs especially heavily on two pastors who work in the Ministry of Education. The denunciation, initially, was timid, but later it gained the news of all the press, for being a subject that moves with the bowels of a government that boasts of not having any case of corruption.

Now everyone is on the subject, even the Attorney General’s Office and the Federal Supreme Court, in addition to the Senate, which will hear those involved. Worst of all is that, according to the accusations that have mounted, President Bolsonaro knew and even authorized this shameful relationship. Minister Milton Ribeiro’s word cannot be counted on, because he only talks nonsense. There is a recording, however, in which he states how this scheme works of only offering resources to city halls somehow linked to evangelical churches or particularly to a certain pastor Gilmar. It clearly says and even gives the name of who operates this government money.

The most active in the scheme, blessed by the pastor-minister of Education, are the National President of Churches and Ministers of the Assembly of God in Brazil, Gilmar Silva dos Santos, and the entity’s political affairs advisor, Pastor Arilton Moura. At first, the two denied any relationship with the minister and with the money that, according to the audio, they distributed to the municipalities chosen to receive the resources. Of course, this little favour cost money. Basically, what is seen in this case is a shamelessness of the government itself. They deny everything. It is already known that the two vivaldinos have already participated in at least 22 agendas of the MEC, 19 of which with the Minister of Education himself. These meetings were described as “political alignment” in the minister’s official agenda. The duo has their doors open, so much so that they are even part of official trips.

Pastor Gilmar shows himself to his faith as a power of faith, using catchphrases that mix miracles with political actions linked to “brothers in Christ”. It’s a show apart: he sings, beats his chest strongly and calls on the faithful to feel the flame of the Holy Spirit. The two pastors also have the doors of the Planalto Palace open. So much so that, according to the latest information, they have already been received four times by President Bolsonaro, which, until now, has been vehemently denied, conveying the idea that the president was unaware of this lack of scruples. The minister himself says this all the time. The president was not aware of anything.

Milton Ribeiro, absent from everything that has to do with education, would have formed a kind of “parallel cabinet” with the pastors, where it was decided which city hall would receive resources. But it had to be linked to evangelicals. The main interlocutor between Bolsonaro and evangelicals, Pastor Silas Malafaia, is demanding an explanation. He says that “it is not enough, to be honest, you have to prove that you are honest”. Leader of the Vitória em Cristo Assembly of God, Malafaia demands that minister Milton Ribeiro explain himself. Other evangelical leaders make the same demand. The pastor minister does everything to keep Bolsonaro away from this lack of shame in his face.

However, every day, some information emerges putting the president in the middle of this plot. So it’s like this: city hall that needs government resources will only get it if the mayor is evangelical or if the city hall is linked to a church or knows Pastor Gilmar. Unbelievable. And Bolsonaro, what does he say? He says that his government is from God and that there is no corruption. He doesn’t need to say anything else. Just wait a bit and the matter will be forgotten, like all Brazilian scandals. If Brazil had shame on its face, this minister would already be out of government.
