With less attendance than yesterday, where the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, spoke, the plenary session of the Budget and Treasury and Finance commissions of the Chamber of Deputies resumed their second day of work today, to analyze the agreement with the Fund. International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In today’s session, trade unionists, businessmen and governors were scheduled to present, not debate. Among the guests are the CGT, the CTA, the Federal Workers Current, Autonomous CTA, Conicet, Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Group of 6, CAME, CGERA (General Business Confederation, IPA (Industrial Argentine SMEs), of the PRO TEJER Foundation, Apyme (Assembly of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs) and ENAC (National Entrepreneurs for Development).
The first to speak was Héctor Amichetti from Corriente Federal who referred to the presence of credits for production, especially for SMEs. He then asked that “quickly and decisively investigate all that leak that occurred while contracting the foreign debt to compensate for the suffering that the Argentine people are experiencing today.”
The second to expose was the representative of the Autonomous CTA, Ricardo Peidró, who read a speech in which they indicated that they consider that the paradox is going to occur that the conditions will be opened for those who are responsible for this situation to return”.
For Peidró, Congress “cannot validate the macrista indebtedness. The path it should take is to deepen the investigation into the irregularities of the Macrista government” to take on the debt and, on the other hand, “bring the complaint before the international funds, the UN and the International Court of Justice, for the irregularities of the IMF”.
After these presentations, the president of the Commission, Carlos Heller, made reference to the absence of the rest of the trade union guests, that the CTA of the Workers and the Conicet were late and will not appear. From that, an intermediate room was defined to resume when it is the turn of the governors.
The heads of the subnational states that will be in the annexe of the Chamber of Deputies will previously meet with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa.
Among those who confirmed their attendance are Ricardo Quintela , from La Rioja; Raúl Jalil , from Catamarca; Osvaldo Jaldo, from Tucumán; Gustavo Sáen , from Salta; Sergio Ziliotto, La Pampa; Omar Perotti, from Santa Fe; Sergio Unac, from San Juan; Gustavo Bordet , from Entre Ríos; and Oscar Herrera Ahuad, from Misiones. Also, there will be Mariano Arcioni, from Chubut; Gustavo Melella, from Tierra del Fuego; Gerardo Morales, from Jujuy and Omar Gutiérrez, from Neuquén. They will be joined by Silvia Neder, deputy governor of Santiago del Estero and Eugenio Quiroga, of Santa Cruz.
Those absent with “notice” are Governors Jorge Capitanich from Chaco and Gerardo Zamora, from Santiago del Estero, both of whom are travelling outside the country.
After confirming that an opinion will be sought tomorrow, Heller said that the understanding seeks to “refinance an unpayable debt that we inherited from the previous management” and argued that “if we were discussing an agreement, I would be among those who would speak out against it, but here we have an agreement that The previous government left us and that money is gone. If we had the money, I would say ‘let’s pay the Fund like Néstor Kirchner did and that they never come back”.
Finally, Heller reiterated in this sense a statement he made days ago, stating: “I said that I will probably have to cover my nose to vote and I say it again. I will never be happy. The president says that he feels contempt, (Martín) Guzmán said that nobody can be happy but the Fund is the same as always. We have a situation that we are not looking for.”
