Tesla, the electric automaker led by Elon Musk, just added another achievement to his account. According to the information provided by the company itself, this week they reached 35,000 Superchargers deployed worldwide. The figure, which is certainly impressive, is well above that of any other manufacturer or service.

It was in Wuhan that Tesla installed and began operating its 35,000th Supercharger. And although the eyes point to the Chinese province – where the COVID-19 pandemic broke out – the truth is that Tesla’s efforts to deploy its chargers have been titanic during the last semester.

In just six months they managed to deploy 5,000 Superchargers in different parts of the world, which is not a minor issue. Last year, they mentioned that their goal was to open 6 new Supercharger locations every week, a strategy that they have been able to carry out without too many hiccups.

Tesla achieves another milestone: having 35,000 Superchargers worldwide

It is worth mentioning that Tesla’s strategy not only contemplates growing the number of chargers but also increasing its presence in more regions to expand its network. The territories with the most Superchargers are those where their vehicles accumulate the highest percentage of sales. The United States, China, and Europe are, at the moment, its main focuses.

In the Asian country alone, which represents 35% of sales in Tesla’s most recent quarter, 8,600 Superchargers spread across 1,100 stations have opened to date.

At Tesla, they are aware that reaching 35,000 Superchargers is not an achievement to be taken lightly. For this reason, they shared an interesting infographic where they show the expansion of their network from the opening of the first Supercharger in the distant 2012. Yes, almost 10 years have passed since that moment…

In June 2018 they reached 10,000 Superchargers; during November 2020 at 20,000; in November 2021 at 30,000 and today at 35,000. When will they reach 40,000? If they maintain the same rhythm, they could achieve it at the end of this year or the beginning of the next. Another important point that cannot be ignored is that Tesla has the largest fast-charging network in the world.

Although those led by Elon Musk have been criticized on more than one occasion because the Supercharger network does not follow the path of other networks, which are open to any electrified vehicle, the reality is that when they began to deploy their charging infrastructure there was no other 100% electric cars on the market.
