The mighty Thor hammer and other Marvel accessories go up for auction

It is said that only the most powerful superheroes can lift and hold Thor’s hammer, some of them being the Hulk, Vision, Loki, Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Jane Foster, to name a few.

But in reality, the person who can have it is the one who has a considerable amount of money left in the bank and who wants to exchange it for the hammer.

Thor’s powerful hammer, called Stunt Mjolnir Hammer, will be auctioned along with 1,800 other iconic and important accessories within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, totally original and used in film recordings, as well as productions of the likes of Star Wars, Castaway and more.

Propstore ‘s entertainment memorabilia auction is set to be one of the largest in history, with hundreds of iconic props going for impressive numbers.

The hammer alone, worn by Chris Hemsworth since landing his role as Thor in the Avengers, is expected to fetch a bid of $100,000.

Although it is a high price, TMZ points out that it is not at all close to being the most expensive and quoted.

The most expensive accessory is said to be a miniature ILM Red Leader X-Wing Starfighter model from Star Wars: A New Hope, which is expected to fetch between $500 and $1 million.

Among the headline props in the auction will be a full-size, illuminated replica of the DeLorean time machine used for Universal Studios promotional events for the Back to the Future trilogy for a starting price of $150,000 with the hope of being auctioned for up to $200 thousand.

Wilson, the volleyball that accompanied Tom Hanks in Castaway is going up for auction at a bid of between $80,000 and $120,000.

For lovers of horror and horror movies, there will also be several options offered such as the glove with blades from Freddy Krueger and the SFX platform of the sweater from Freddy vs. Jason will cost approximately 15 thousand dollars.

Overall, the auction is expected to fetch at least $9 million from the 1,800 props on June 22, 23, and 24, 2022. It will be held at the Propstore auction house located in Valencia, California.

This will be the first of two major prop auctions taking place this summer. The second will be a collaboration between Turner Classic Movies and Julien’s Auctions from July 15-17 in Beverly Hills.

It will feature the original dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and There’s No Business Like Showbiz, as well as accessories from the classics Breakfast at Tiffany‘s and Pulp Fiction.
