Ms. Marvel is the next Marvel series in the Disney+ catalog and introduces a new heroine to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Kamala Khan, who will be played by  Iman Vellani and eventually become Ms. Marvel. If you don’t know the character, you can rest assured, that AdoroCinema will introduce you to Kamala Khan and some interesting facts about her in the series and also in the comics.

in Ms. Marvel, we meet Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) for the first time, an American Muslim teenager who grew up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fanfic writer, Kamala is a mega superhero fan with a huge imagination – particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel ( Brie Larson ). However, Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and even at home – that is until she has super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.

MS. MARVEL HAS POWERS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER MCU HEROES

Ms. Marvel has different powers from other characters we know from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She can enlarge and shrink parts of her body, elongating her arms, hands, and legs, increasing her physical ability to fight enemies. But it doesn’t stop there, the protagonist still presents a cosmic force that helps her in all her challenges.

As usual in MCU adaptations, the character’s powers have been reimagined in live-action. In the comics, she was originally introduced as an Inhuman and polymorphic, with the ability to alter her body parts as she sees fit. In the series, she will have her powers granted by a bracelet that will be a source of cosmic energy – a change that was defended by the creator of the character in the comics.

TEENAGER IN HIGH SCHOOL AND A FAN OF THE GEEK WORLD

Despite already being a superhero and having important responsibilities such as trying to save the world with her powers, Kamala Khan is just a high school teenager who seeks to graduate and live as best as possible with her feelings, classmates, and, of course, crushes.

Kamala Khan is a geek passionate about the world of superheroes, especially when it comes to Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), of whom she is a huge fan. In addition, she is always on top of all the fanfics created for her idols and participates in conventions aimed at the geek audience. She will have the opportunity to work with her greatest inspiration in The Marvels, a sequel to Captain Marvel, which will show the union of Carol Danvers (Larson), Kamala Khan (Vellani), and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

MS. MARVEL IS MARVEL’S FIRST MUSLIM SUPERHERO

Ms. Marvel is Marvel’s first Muslim superhero to have her comic book and now an audiovisual production starring her Disney+ series. Created by Sana Amanat, who is a Pakistani daughter, the character is played by Muslim actress Iman Vellani in the new production and the series also has a production team of different nationalities.

Kamala Khan was first introduced in Marvel comics in 2013, as a Pakistani American teenager from New Jersey who idolizes Captain Marvel. As early as 2014, Kamala had superhuman abilities, her own solo comic book series, and her superhero nomenclature.

“Comics have meant the world to me. I hope people can see what I saw when I first picked them up, and this tremendous amount of love. I felt seen and I want people to feel less lonely, whether you are an Avengers fan, Pakistani or Muslim, or a kid trying to figure out his place in this world. Everything. I think Kamala is such a universal character and a lot of people can relate to her,” Iman Vellani said of the importance of Ms. Marvel at a press conference.

Ms. Marvel premieres June 8 on Disney+, with six episodes a week.
