Facebook is no longer what it used to be. It is the most normal, social networks change, evolve, mutate or sometimes regress, because it seems that it would be their next logical step.
There we have the case of Twitter, which started as a microblogging network, which made a lot of changes over a decade and where now everything indicates that it is about to become an old-fashioned blog.
Everything is to stay attractive, current and permanently grow the number of daily users. A section in which Facebook was the absolute master and champion of achieving this permanent increase. Up to now.
Facebook lowers its number of daily users
Meta, the parent company that condenses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus, has just published its earnings report for the last quarter of 2021.
Broadly speaking, it would give the impression that the business is going very well, but in the midst of all those numbers, there was a slightly hidden detail that could be disturbing for those who have followed the trail of the performance of this social network.
And it is that the number of daily active users of Facebook fell slightly in the last two quarters of the past 2021. This would mean that the social network has six months, half a year, decreasing its flow of people who enter the platform, going from 1,930 million to 1,929 million.
It is therefore a tiny change and could be insignificant for the vast majority. But it is necessary to consider that this slight drop is actually the first time in the history of Facebook that the number of daily active users has fallen.
If we add to this that the projected goal in this area was 1,950 million, we find that Mark Zuckerberg and the company fell short by 21 million daily users.
The interesting detail is that the decrease occurred specifically in a geographical category of the metrics: “Rest of the world”, which includes Latin America and Africa.
So if you’re reading this and concluding that you’ve been avoiding Facebook for the past few months, you really aren’t the only ones.
Due to the nature of the financial results report, the specific reasons behind the low user flow were not really delved into.
But it will be essential to closely monitor the next report to see if this downward trend continues.
