NFTs have been crowned one of the most talked about technologies in the last quarter of the year. Since they came to light thanks to media purchases like the one in the first tweet in history, many companies have opened their own platforms for the sale of non-fungible tokens. Now, the CEO of YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, has revealed her desire to do the same for her portal, as an opportunity to help content creators and their profits.
Everything has been done thanks to the revelation of a letter addressed to the creators of YouTube, where the platform expresses its goals and priorities for the remainder of 2022. It was collected by various portals based on reports from the same channels.
The letter expresses the high interest that Wojcicki has with NFTs and their possible implementation in the video portal with the aim that users can make money with them.
“Over the past year, the world of crypto, NFTs, and even decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) have highlighted previously unimagined opportunities to grow the connection between creators and their fans,” he noted. “We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on these emerging technologies, including things like NFTs while continuing to strengthen and improve the experiences everyone has.”
While there is general enthusiasm for almost everything that is configured in the web3 call, the CEO did not specify in any way how YouTube could use NFTs to help creators, nor many when we could see the idea materialized.
One of the possibilities is that the channels themselves can offer NFTs of all kinds to their followers directly, but there could be mechanisms that change things, such as a general virtual Google store, in which YouTube is the main meeting point.
There is also the possibility of using third-party services that already have a strong presence in the market, such as Rarible and Open Sea. At the moment, no further details are known about how NFTs could appear later.
