Captain Marvel is the penultimate film of Phase 3 of the MCU, just before Avengers 4, although set in the 90s, in the middle of an intergalactic battle between two of the most powerful alien races in the universe: the Kree and the Skrull. She will play a crucial role in the outcome of this conflict and the future of the avengers in May.

In July 2016 Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (Room) was announced as Carol Danvers, the real name of Captain Marvel, in the MCU and since then there have been occasional updates about the film, which is scheduled for release in March 2019.

In the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel received his first nod as part of this movie franchise.

Captain Marvel’s recordings began in March 2018 and to date several photos of the shoot have been leaked, with deep glimpses of Larson as the superheroine.

The first official trailer of Captain Marvel was released on September 18, 2018, in the midst of a huge expectation of fans.

WHO IS CAPTAIN MARVEL?
Carol Danvers is a superheroine of Marvel Comics, created by the writer Roy Thomas and the artist Gene Colan. He first appeared in March 1968 as a member of the United States Air Force at Marvel’s # 13 Super-Heroes Vol 1, but only as a hero at Ms. Marvel’s # 1.

Commander Danvers got her superhuman powers after accidentally merging her human genes with Kree genes in Captain Marvel # 18 in November 1969. She was originally known as Ms. Marvel and eventually also as Binary, Warbird and finally as Captain Marvel to honor Mar-Vell, the soldier Kree who used this name until his death.

As a human-kree hybrid, Carol Danvers has super strength, endurance, endurance and physical durability. It can fly, has a kind of ‘sixth sense’ and is immune to most toxins and poisons. Like Binary, after being powered by the alien Brood, Carol could manipulate stellar energies, heat, the electromagnetic spectrum and gravity. In addition, travel at the speed of light and survive the vacuum of space. Currently, he can still invoke the powers of Binary, albeit on a smaller scale. It can absorb energy and project photonically, even the energy of a nuclear explosion.

Carol Danvers is also an exceptional agent of espionage, pilot, melee fighter and gunner.

SYNOPSIS
The first official synopsis of Captain Marvel, released at the beginning of the film’s recordings, reads as follows:

“The story follows Carol Danver when she becomes one of the most powerful heroines in the universe when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is a completely new adventure from a period never before seen in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ”

The aforementioned galactic conflict is the Kree-Skrull War, published between 1970 and 1971, from # 89 to # 97 of Avengers, and which also involved the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Captain Marvel and several other superheroes to defend Earth from the reach of this conflict. However, Carol Danvers barely appears in ‘Kree-Skrull War’, so the choice of this bow for the first heroine movie is a strange choice.

The ‘Kree-Skrull War’ is one of the first long stories of Marvel, published for eight months. By then, both Kree and Skrull are alien races already explored in Marvel Comics for years. The Krull debuted in the second edition of Fantastic Four, 1963, while the Kree were already known thanks to the comics of Captain Marvel, when the soldier Kree Mar-Vell used that name. At the beginning of this war, the Earth is identified as a planet of interest for the Kree, although protected from then on by one of them, Mar-Vell, who is allied with the Avengers of the time.

For Captain Marvel, the story will be adapted in such a way that Carol is the key player in this war, although Mar-Vell will also be part of the story, played by Jude Law.

In the words of Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, Captain Marvel “is one of the most unique and inspiring stories of origin” of the MCU, something just for one of the most powerful superheroines in the universe.

During the world premiere of Avengers: Infinity War, Feige also advanced that as Nick Fury will be the other important piece of the film, it will be seen for the first time an unknown side of the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“Certain things that are found in this film prepare the way in which we are 19 films later. It’s really special and I can not wait for it to end, we edit it and put it in theaters so that people can see it, “said the boss of Marvel Studios.

SCENES POST-CREDITS OF AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Why was Captain Marvel not contacted before? Perhaps Nick Fury believed that the Avengers could protect the Earth from threats such as Malekith, Loki and Hydra, but Thanos proved to be an unimaginable danger until then.

CHARACTERS AND CAST
In addition to Alison Brie as Captain Marvel, Jude Law as Mar-Vell and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Marvel Studios confirmed several other actors for the film, including old acquaintances. Among them, Clark Gregg as the agent Phil Coulson, one of the first characters of the MCU in passing from one tape to another, from Iron Man to The Avengers (2012), where he died, but only to be revived later in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Captain Marvel will mark his return to the big screen.

Marvel also announced the return of Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Persecutor, both characters seen and killed in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). In the MCU, Ronan is a fan of the alien Kree race, so his return is understandable.

RELEASE DATE
Captain Marvel will be released on March 8, 2019 in the United States and probably a day earlier in Peru and other territories around the world as usual for the films of this cycle.
