The actor’s addiction history and his attempts to detox from drugs amid his controversial relationship with his ex-wife Amber Heard are aired in court.

The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard for defamation is in full swing, and the details of the stormy relationship that come to light are the order of the day. In the opening arguments of the trial, the actress’s lawyers accused Depp of sexual violence, they also argued that the model suffered all kinds of blows, and strangulation and that her ex-partner “sexually assaulted her with a bottle”.

Now, according to People magazine, Beverly Hills doctor David Kipper has revealed that the actor tried to “detox from his substance abuse” while he was engaged to Amber Heard. Such substances included alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, and stimulants.

Depp, who also experienced depression and anxiety, was “afraid” to come off opiates after becoming dependent on them following a dental procedure he underwent. According to the doctor, he and Depp planned a two-week drug detox at the actor’s home in the Caribbean Islands

The doctor said that there were times when Depp hesitated about the process and even did not want to continue with the detoxification. “He didn’t think he could do it,” however, he assured him that the actor continued his fight against drugs.

Drug use had a decisive influence on his behavior, according to Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, who said that ” Depp’s monster came out when he was drinking and when he was taking drugs .”

Mutual abuse
The therapist of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard revealed that the attacks occurred on the part of both actors. The testimony of Laurel Anderson, who was the couple’s therapist between 2015 and 2016, has assured that there was “mutual abuse” in their relationship.

”Both were victims of abuse in their homes. I think he was kept under control for decades until he and Heard got out of control and they got involved in what I saw as mutual abuse.
