Bruce Springsteen understands how to work a crowd.

Possibly as a reference to Fenway Park’s forthcoming opening day, The Boss played The Standells’ cover of Boston’s renowned “Dirty Water” at TD Garden on Monday night, the first song in a 50-minute marathon encore.

It wasn’t the only mention of a local business throughout the roughly three-hour presentation.

Springsteen also dedicated a rendition of “Thunder Road” from his 1975 classic “Born to Run” to the nurses, physicians, and employees at the Dana Faber Cancer Center, and asked fans to donate to Greater Boston Food Bank workers stationed outside the stadium on their way out.
