Moon Knight and Thanos snap: what happened to him when it happened?

With the incorporation of a new character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, new theories, interpretations, and questions are produced in relation to his role and his spatial location at times. It’s what happened to Moon Knight and Thanos’ snap during Avengers: Infinity War. Was this superhero, recently featured in a Disney Plus series, affected?

The most immediate clue was offered by Moon Knight writer-executive producer Jeremy Slater who addressed the issue. Together with his work team, it was one of the issues they discussed. After all, Thanos’ snap represents a before and after within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During an interview on The Direct, Slater said, “Definitely, we all in the writers’ room thought he survived the snap.” This is not a minor thing, taking into account the multiple personalities of Moon Knight and that, perhaps, some of them could not remember him. This was not the only comment that the writer offered on the matter.

Moon Knight and his resemblance to Hawkeye

In relation to the study of Moon Knight and the snap of Thanos, Jeremy Slater described in The Direct part of the dynamic that they had:

“It’s something [the snap] you would have to deal with, especially as a character who is trying to find his place in the world and has a lot of questions about his past. Not mentioning the snap during the process would have been weird. So we all collectively assumed that he was part of the 50% that survived.”

To this he added a comment on the role of this character during this time, comparing him with another of the subjects who had a series within Disney Plus, Hawkeye. The story of this character, released at the end of 2021, was one of the ones that received the best reviews so far.

The role played by Jeremy Renner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe used to move through dark areas, the shadows of the underworld found in that narrative. In this regard, Slater commented:

“Steven basically woke up about two years ago. That was the first time they started living separate lives, and that was after Marc’s mom died. So this has been the last two years and we’re assuming the previous three years were kind of Marc, alone. Probably the same way Hawkeye had his hands full as Ronin because the criminal underworld was running rampant during the snap.”

Along these lines, Slater added: “I assume Moon Knight kept himself very busy. But it was all being done in the shadows and he was taking down a lot of threats that never surfaced or saw the light of day.” This character was played by Oscar Isaac, with the antagonism of Ethan Hawke.
