Lawrence of Arabia (1962) is a film directed by David Lean and starring Peter O’Toole, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, Sir Alec Guinness or Jack Hawkins. It is considered one of the best films in history and, in fact, in 1991, was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress of the United States. The film tells the story of Thomas Edward Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, a British archaeologist and writer, who played a key role in his role as British Army officer during World War I during the Arab revolt against Ottoman rule.
