According to latest sources, Chelsea are in negotiations with PSV Eindhoven to sign promising young winger Noni Madueke in January. The Blues are interested in the 20-year-old as they look to bolster their attacking lines in the coming weeks.
The west London club, which changed hands last year, has had a tumultuous few months as its members adjust to the new management. The entire support crew was replaced, and then new coaches were introduced on the sidelines.
Given the length of player contracts and the effort required to build a new team, players are usually the last to be moved around, but a new approach focused on developing young players is being implemented.
In this window alone, the signing of talents like David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, and Benoit Badiashile demonstrates the ambition to establish a template for the future.
Noni Madueke: The Unstoppable!
Madueke appears to be the most recent target for the project, since he would be a great asset to the current first team in light of recent injuries. However, the former Tottenham youth has had trouble staying healthy for PSV this season, raising doubts about the immediate effect he could make if he were to arrive this month.
But according to Dutch publication ED, the Blues are willing to make the move happen and have submitted an initial offer around €30 million (£26.6 million).
According to reports, new negotiations with PSV are planned for the near future. The Eredivisie club is reportedly open to talks, but is not in immediate financial need after the massive proceeds from the sale of Cody Gakpo to Liverpool.
Whether or not a deal can be reached for the exciting winger in the coming weeks before the deadline is unknown, but there appears to be mounting pressure among the club’s fanbase for the more immediate future.
