Castleford
Over the weekend, a video that purportedly features Castleford’s loose forward Joe Westerman made its way across social media, prompting an investigation. The footage showed what looked to be a man and a woman having a sexual encounter in a dark alley.
The rugby league community started talking about it on Sunday, prompting the club to issue a statement early this morning after it was circulated on Twitter. “Castleford Tigers are aware of a video involving a player that circulated on social media yesterday afternoon,” the brief club statement read.
The Club will not comment further while internal processes are ongoing. Westerman, a former member of the England national team, came back for a second stint with Castleford at the beginning of the 2016 season. He has played for Hull, Warrington, Toronto, and Wakefield over his 387-game career.
In 2019, he became famous because to a remarkable video in which he dislocated his knee during a game versus Hull KR and was shown slamming it back into place on national television. On Sunday, Westerman’s former club, Hull, will host Castleford as they kick off their Super League campaign.
