In order to ensure the safety of the G7 summit taking place in Bavaria, several hundred law enforcement officers from the neighboring state of Baden-Württemberg have been sent there.
On Friday, a representative for the Ministry of the Interior in Stuttgart issued a statement indicating that the first police officers would travel to the federal state that is next to this one on the following Saturday.
The large-scale operation that will include the complete staff strength around the summit won’t get started until the following Friday. The Ministry of Safety and Security is preparing for the possibility that people from the southwest would travel to the Free State in order to take part in counter-protests.
In the beginning, there was no more information that was offered. The G7 summit, which will include the heads of state of seven of the most powerful industrial countries in the world, is scheduled to take place for the second time from the 26th to the 28th of June at the opulent hotel Schloss Elmau, which is located at the base of the Wetterstein Mountains in Germany.
The United States of America, Canada, Japan, Germany, and France are all members of the Group of Seven (G7). Italy and Japan are also members.
Access to a substantial area of the territory immediately around the site of the conference will begin to be restricted on Sunday by the municipality of Garmisch-Partkirchen, which will begin enforcing these restrictions. This area will be off-limits until the 28th of June when access will once again be granted.
