Who is Jenna Ortega, Wednesday on the Netflix series

The Californian actress triumphs on the platform with the series about the adolescent stage of the daughter of Gómez and Morticia Addams

Tim Burton has made his television debut with complete success. Wednesday , the series based on the teenage character of the dark daughter of Gomez and Morticia in The Addams Family , was number one in hours viewed on the platform in the English – speaking series category . And part of that success is due to Jenna Ortega, the actress who gives life to the young woman.

Following in the footsteps of Christina Ricci, whose shadow was very long, Jenna Ortega had a very high bar to embody the young Wednesday. And it is that if there is a character for which Ricci is remembered in fiction, this is the pale daughter of the Addams. In the nineties, she rocked her interpretation in the two films that were made about the family, and now Ortega did not have an easy time living up to it.

But the Californian has left everyone speechless with her work in the series, where she coincides with Ricci, also in the cast, this time as a teacher . Ortega has taken the role perfectly, embroidering that gothic young woman without mincing words and with a hieratic countenance. Thus, her fame has grown exponentially and she already has more than twenty million followers on her De ella Instagram account.

At only 20 years old, Ortega fulfills his dream of succeeding in acting, but it is not his screen debut. Before her we had been able to see her in the fifth part of the Scream movie saga , the second season of You and The Babysitter: Killer Queen .

What are we going to see on Wednesday?

This series, available since November 23 on the Netflix platform, is a detective mystery steeped in supernatural elements about Wednesday’s years as a student at the Nunca Más Academy during his teenage years.

In this fiction, which has broken all viewing records on the platform for a non-English-speaking series, young Wednesday attempts to master her incipient psychic ability, stop a monstrous wave of murders that has terrorized the city and solve the paranormal mystery in which his parents were involved twenty-five years ago. And all this while she manages her new (and extremely complicated) relationships in Nunca Más.
