Since the coronavirus crisis erupted around the world, some well-known personalities have used their influence on social media to raise awareness of the dangers of a massive spread. The hashtag #YoMeQuedoEnCasa -translated into all languages- has become the main motto of all campaigns.
The Italian businesswoman Chiara Ferragni and her husband, the rapper Fedez , have been two of the most activist celebrities, with continuous messages on their networks, denouncing those who act disrespectfully and with a magnificent crowdfunding campaign with which they have managed to raise more of 4 million euros . Now Rihanna , who already donated $ 700,000 a few days ago, has once again demonstrated her most caring side.
The artist has decided to contribute her grain of sand and has donated five million dollars to different organizations that fight against the coronavirus. “When we started this year, we could never have imagined how COVID-19 would so dramatically alter our lives. No matter who you are or where you are from, this pandemic will affect us all. And for the most vulnerable in the world, the worst may be yet to come, ”explained the statement from the Clara Lionel Foundation, a non-profit organization that she founded in 2012.
Rihanna has detailed both in the statement and in the Instagram account of the foundation where these five million dollars will go. The supports will go entirely to the food banks that offer food to communities at risk of exclusion and to the elderly in the United States, they will also dedicate themselves to the purchase of tests and materials to care for the sick in countries such as Haiti and Malawi, purchase of e protective equipment for health workers, maintenance of ICUs and acceleration of vaccine research in different centers located around the world. With this contribution, respirators will also be purchased for hospital centers that are in a critical situation.
In addition, this is in addition to the contribution of $ 700,000 that the artist already made a few days ago to cover the costs of creating respirators for those affected.
