Expedia has announced the availability of ChatGPT-powered travel planning. How to Try It Right Now

ChatGPT is now available on the Expedia app. ChatGPT can help you plan your next vacation with Expedia’s travel app.

The vacation booking site introduced a new chatbot tool powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT on Tuesday. Start a chat with ChatGPT in the Expedia app to obtain recommendations on destinations, hotels, transportation, and activities. Expedia’s ChatGPT takes it a step further by automatically favoriting hotels mentioned in the conversation.

 

 

Expedia recently collaborated with OpenAI to build a plugin that allows users to plan vacations on the ChatGPT site using Expedia’s travel data. The same ChatGPT connection is now available in Expedia’s app.

Expedia CTO Rathi Murthy said of the ChatGPT plugin and in-app ChatGPT combo, “We genuinely want to meet our travellers wherever they are.” You can start a chat about travel plans on ChatGPT or in the Expedia app and move right into booking the trip.

 

 

Expedia’s ChatGPT integration is one of many that have followed the introduction of OpenAI’s API for third-party developers and the latest Large Language Mode (LLM) GPT-4. Kayak, a competitor in the travel industry, has also announced a ChatGPT plugin.

Work tools like Zoom, Slack, and Grammarly, as well as apps like Snapchat, OpenTable, and Klarna, have all hopped on the ChatGPT bandwagon. Companies like Expedia are attempting to make booking travel easier and more convenient by employing ChatGPT’s conversational AI. Expedia’s ChatGPT function is currently in beta and is now available globally on iOS.
