WhatsApp’s developer team is currently working on a number of new features to enhance the platform’s usability. In addition to the new voice memo tools, the app will soon allow users to respond to messages with an emoji.
The new feature was announced in the middle of this year and will function similarly to the technique used in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger: all you have to do is hold down the message for a few seconds to access a list of emoticons.
This feature will be available in both individual and group conversations, with the latter allowing you to see who responded to a certain text. Each emoji will appear underneath the responses, along with a counter displaying the overall number of reactions received.
A new beta update for WhatsApp for iOS has offered more details on the functionality, which is currently in the early stages of development. Users will be able to manage reaction notifications to their messages on the messaging service.
A new configuration panel debuts in version 2.21.210.15, where you may activate/deactivate notifications and adjust their sound. People will be able to choose whether or not they wish to be notified whenever someone in the discussion uses an emoji.
WhatsApp was previously reported to allow messages to have an endless number of reactions in a group. The count will only display up to the number 999; once that restriction is reached, the reference “999+” will appear.
