New possible delay of Apple glasses, will they be announced at WWDC?

A new rumor indicates that the manufacture of Apple glasses is delayed at the end of the year, so we may not see them at WWDC23.

The news about Apple’s glasses is usually not good since delays have been talked about for years . And, now, when we thought that its launch was going to be imminent, the rumors of a new possible delay return. At least, as far as its launch on the market is concerned.

 

We have known for a long time that Apple is working on a mixed reality headset that would include both virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. It is an ambitious device that could cost a lot of money and that is a personal bet of Apple CEO Tim Cook . Although there are people within Apple itself who do not quite see it.

 

A new delay of Apple glasses

As reported by the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, an expert in knowing Apple’s supply chain in depth, the mass production of this new Apple device will not take place until the end of the third quarter of the year. Which, indirectly, means that they could arrive right at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024 .

Kuo now predicts that only 200,000 to 300,000 units will be made and shipped this year , so that’s down to original estimates of more than half a million units.

Apple was expected to present this new device during WWDC23, which has already confirmed its official dates . Apple’s developer event is usually the place where new operating systems such as iOS 17 are announced , so it seems perfect to also introduce the glasses and developers the tools to create apps for them.

On the other hand, Kuo continues to insist on a high price, between $3,000 and $4,000 . So we are facing a device or it would not be for everyone.

Really, there are not too many problems in presenting a new device months in advance . In fact, it is usually normal at Apple, the iPhone was presented in January and was not launched until June and something similar happened with the Apple Watch. So there is still hope of seeing the glasses at WWDC23.
