Facebook Messenger: So You Can Create Secret Conversations From Android or iOS

Did you know that Facebook Messenger has a feature called secret conversations? It is a type of chat, with end-to-end encryption, which is designed so that only you and the person you are speaking with have access to the messages.

At the moment, this function is only available in the Messenger application for iOS and Android devices, so it will not appear as an option in the web version of both the instant messaging service and Facebook.

How to start a secret conversation on Facebook Messenger?

1. Access the Facebook Messenger application from an iOS or Android device
2. Go to the chats section and tap the pencil button in the upper right
3. Enables the lock icon switch located in the upper right corner
4. Select the name of the person you want to send a message to.

A new chat window will open with the title secret conversation, which will be protected with the end-to-end encryption protocol on all your active devices. From there, you can send text messages, voice messages, photos, and videos.

In addition, since mid-August, it is also possible to make calls and video calls with this type of encryption from the messaging application. This means that no one else, including Facebook, can see or hear what is happening in the communication.

In order to obtain greater security and privacy, you will also have the option to enable disappearing messages. To do this, press the lock icon located at the bottom of the chat and set the timer for the self-destruction of the content:
