At last we can transfer WhatsApp data from Android to iOS without paying extra

Currently it was only possible to complete the migration by paying money to external applications.

One of the recurring complaints about users who make a step from Android to iOS devices is related to the impossibility of generating an easy migration of the data that is in the WhatsApp application. But now it has been announced that that problem will come to an end.

WhatsApp will implement an alternative so that its Android users can transfer their conversation history, files, and almost all the elements that are in the application to have them available on an iOS device. Only data such as financial transactions made within the application will not be kept.

“We are adding to WhatsApp the ability to securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos, and voice messages between Android and iPhone while maintaining end-to-end encryption. This is a highly requested feature. We launched the ability to switch from iPhone–>Android last year, and now we’re adding Android–>iPhone as well.” explained Mark Zuckerberg, Founder, and CEO of the Meta conglomerate.

The other relevant thing is that initially, this option will only be available to users who are part of the WhatsApp Beta tests. The entire implementation process will take about a week, although for now there is no date for a launch for all users of the application.

The most striking of all is that this new option will be completely free, something that contrasts with the options currently available on the market. Apps like WonderShare Dr. Fone charge an annual subscription to be able to transfer message history and other items to iOS platforms.

All this can be done because in the Google store there is an application called ” Move to iOS “, which allows an automatic and secure migration from an Android device to an iOS device. The application will add the option to transfer WhatsApp data and also recognizes which free applications have been installed by a user to search for their simile in the iOS store and install them automatically.

The following are the steps as stated on the official site:

Open the Move to iOS app on your Android phone and follow the on-screen prompts.
A code will be displayed on the iPhone. When prompted, enter the code on your Android phone.
Tap Continue and follow the instructions on the screen.
On the Transfer data screen, select WhatsApp.
Tap START on the Android phone and wait for WhatsApp to prepare the data for export. When this process is complete, you will be signed out of the Android phone.
Tap NEXT to return to the Move to iOS app.
Tap CONTINUE to transfer data from Android phone to iPhone and wait for Move to iOS to confirm the transfer is complete.
Install the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store.
Open WhatsApp and sign in with the same phone number you used on your old device.
When prompted, tap Get Started and wait for the process to complete.
When you finish activating the new device, you will be able to see all your chats.
