In the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup, played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid defeated Valencia on penalties. In the end, Real prevailed 4-3 in penalties after the score was at 1-1 after extra time. The winner of Thursday’s game between Real Betis and Barcelona will play in Sunday’s championship game.

Karim Benzema scored the game’s opening goal from the penalty spot in the first half.
