Who is the Youngest President in the World?

Charles Michel achieved the position of Prime Minister of Belgium in 2014 at just 38 years old. Matteo Renzi headed the Italian government in 2014 at the age of 39. Atifete Jahjaga was 36 years old when he became president of Kosovo in 2011. The young prime minister of the Republic of Ireland,  Leo Varadkar , came to power in May 2017, when he was 38 years old. Emmanuel Macron, rose to the presidency of France with only 39 years old, becoming the youngest president in the history of France .

Austrian Sebastian Kurz was the youngest president in the world until May 27, 2019, when he stepped down as Chancellor of Austria. He became chancellor when he was only 31 years old.

If we strictly follow the definition of president, the youngest today is the Salvadoran Nayib Bukele, who became president of the Republic of El Salvador on June 1, 2019, when he was 37 years old (currently 38).

Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez was born in the city of San Salvador on July 24, 1981. Before becoming president, the young man was mayor of Nuevo Cuscatlán and of his hometown, San Salvador.

If we talk about leaders, Kim Jong-un, officially the 3rd Supreme Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is the youngest ruler on the planet. Born in Pyongyang City on January 8, 1983, he became North Korea’s leader on December 30, 2011, when he was just 28 years old. He is currently 36 years old.
