According to Cabinet Office data, Rishi Sunak’s one-day trip to Egypt for the COP27 summit in November 2022 will cost 107,966 in private jet travel. A week later, on November 13, he traveled to Bali, Indonesia, for the G20 conference and returned on November 17, a round trip that cost more over $340,000.

Shortly after, the UK prime minister spent a day visiting troops in Latvia and Estonia, a trip that cost more than $62,000. Liz Truss’s trip to Prague in October 2022 cost about 40,000 dollars, according to data on abroad prime ministerial travel in the third quarter of 2022.

Sunak was chastised by the Liberal Democrats over the spending, saying, “This is a terrible waste of taxpayers’ money at a time when people are struggling to pay their bills.” This Conservative government has once again proven to be absolutely out of touch.

“They can appear to care about a better future with their so-called ‘Green Day,’ but in reality they do not care,” said Wera Hobhouse, the party’s energy and climate spokesperson.
