Someone saw Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters almost 300 times, a world record

A man saw the last Spider-Man movie 292 in theaters, a new Guinness record that will be very difficult to beat

By now, we all know that Spider-Man: No Way Home is not only a pretty good movie, but it also basically got the entire multiverse to go to the theater to see it. Some saw it once, others probably saw it two or three times, if they had the time and money to afford a repeat. But for one fan in particular, seeing Tom Holland swing alongside Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire a handful of times just wasn’t enough.

The Guinness Book of World Records has reported that Ramiro Alanis, a man living in Florida, United States, saw No Way Home in theaters 292 times. It started on December 16 and ended on March 15, with a total time of 720 hours, or basically a full month. Ramiro isn’t sure how much he spent on tickets, but he thinks it’s around $3,400. For three months, until theaters stopped showing it, he watched the movie over and over, one after the other, amounting to almost 12 and a half hours of film. In the end, he said that he could recite the entire dialogue from the movie… which he did out loud during its final screening, in an empty theater. A fun trick for the holidays.

By Guinness rules, he also had to watch the film from start to finish; no breaks to sleep or go to the bathroom (11 of his viewings were disqualified due to breaks), not check his phone and had to stay for the credits, which he was already used to. He also had to keep his ticket stub and receive a statement from a theater employee confirming that he saw the movie. Juggling all of that with his family and his career as a personal trainer wasn’t easy, admitting that the nighttime viewings in particular were the hardest due to headaches after watching the movie four times earlier in the day.

For Alanis, the goal was to regain her title of attending the most film productions of the same film; he first acquired it in 2019 by watching Avengers: Endgame 191 times. (The previous record-holder belonged to Joanne Connor in Australia, who watched Bohemian Rhapsody 108 times in early 2019.) However, in 2021, his record was broken by Arnaud Klein, who saw the French comedy-fantasy film Kaamelott: The First Installment.204 times in theaters. After her grandmother Jauny passed away in 2019 before she could win her Guinness title, she wanted to break her record in her honor. “She was my number 1 fan,” she told Guinness, “and I want to continue to be the record holder.” Now that he has his title, he is quite determined to hang on to it, warning anyone looking to try and come for his crown: “If anyone wants to break my record again, I want them to think twice before trying.”
